5 Steps to Prepare for Piano Lessons in Your Home

When it comes to kids, learning shouldn’t be confined in school. There’s plenty of great opportunities to learn about themselves and their environment through extracurricular classes. If your child is showing interest in music, consider signing them up for home piano lessons in Singapore. 

Once you have already chosen a piano teacher for your child, the next thing that you need to do is prepare your home and that includes everyone in the household. You don’t want to be too stern as this activity should be fun, but you need to set rules to ensure your child is making the most of their class. 

Here are steps to making piano lessons at home productive and stress-free:

1. Designate a classroom. Kids get easily distracted. Whether they see their siblings or hear their favorite show on TV, they can immediately lose focus on what they’re doing. Choose a room or a corner in the house that your child can use for their piano lessons. Keep the environment noise-free while the lessons are ongoing. In this regard, you may need to move your piano from its original location. Since this is a heavy instrument, unless it’s a keyboard your child will be using, it will help to rearrange furniture ahead of time. 
2. Establish a schedule. Even before the piano lessons begin, orient your kids and everyone in the household about the schedule you have set. Post a copy of the schedule where everyone will see it easily so they’ll be reminded that noise should be kept low. If your child used to play at that hour, prepare them by listening to music instead, singing together, or even playing the piano. 3. Get everyone to cooperate. Kids may suddenly barge in the room and interrupt the piano class. Talk to everyone, including helpers you may have, to refrain from entering the room you have chosen for the piano lessons, unless it’s an urgent matter. You need to stay where you can easily respond should the teacher call your attention. But as much as possible, activities and noise in the area should be controlled. If you have other young children, explain to them that the piano lesson is similar to being in school only that it is one-to-one.
4. Make the preparation fun. Watch piano performances with your child. Look for the piano version of their favorite songs and listen together. If their teacher asks you to prepare supplies, such as notebooks or piano sheets, get your little one involved. Let them choose their notebook and have them decorate it with stickers. Make them look forward to their lesson!
5. Coordinate closely with the teacher. Talk to their piano teacher in Singapore if she or he needs anything to facilitate the lessons.
