Are you a food junkie? Do you feel like visiting your relatives’ places and going to parties or events has only one purpose – eating? Are you a kind of person who would go to a cousin’s wedding, grab some starters, sit in the corner and eat peacefully? Then, keep reading further. We all pretend in every possible manner that we try staying healthy, eating less junk but once we get the chance to go to a party or event, we make every calorie count! At least, I do it. I am a devoted food lover. Wherever I go, I go for food. I think about food more than I think about my boyfriend (just kidding). Food acquires a huge space in my life, maybe because I come from a family where there would be super tasty meals cooked every single day! I can’t think of a day where I didn’t have Dal (lentil soup), Chawal (rice), Fish and dessert for lunch. In my house, cooking was a huge thing. Not only the women participated in cooking, on the weekends, the men would cook some serious heavy dishes too. I guess, that is the main reason why I am like this – thinking about cooking and eating all the time.
Spread Happiness with Food
Everything was going so well. The world was a better place and all of a sudden this devilish COVID-19 pandemic hit us hard. People started getting affected. A lot of people around the world lost their lives. So many people have become jobless. In a country like India, the poor laborers are getting to eat ones may be in two days. This is not good. Okay, so, it was probably a month or so after the first lockdown had started; my family and I thought of cooking meals in large batches so it could feed at least 250 – 300 people everyday. We sort of started a fund, went public, asked for help and so many people stood up. It was an overwhelming feeling to have been able to help so many people. The cooking process would begin at sharp 04.00am. in the morning and it would be distributed in foil containers and at around 10am, the van would leave for the final distribution. I cannot be enough thankful to those who stood by us. I know, we cannot help everyone of them; I would if I had the backup, but we have to start somewhere. No one deserves to sleep hungry at night.
Catering Services and Hygiene
After the unlocking process started in India, normal life began to restore, if not completely, but still in some extent. Offices began to open, shopping centers, markets were back in business, yet the the schools, colleges and universities remained shut. Weddings began to take place too! Here in Noida, I attended one of my friend’s wedding. I went to the party late and there were barely 60-70 people there. It was a nice, cosy party where families and close friends came together to celebrate their day of love. My friend’s brother did the booking of the hall and the catering team and he did a very good job. The place, in itself was very nice. As in, it was spacious and had two halls: one for the wedding ritual itself, it was the small one and the other one had a pretty wide alley where tables were set maintaining a lot of space in between. Of course, they had to maintain social distancing. The food was amazing. From starters to desserts, everything was perfect. I especially enjoyed the Masala Kulcha (a type of leavened Indian flatbread with a spicy potato stuffing). Anyway, so, at the party, the food was great and the way the team managed everything, was unbelievable. Everything was picture perfect. They were constantly spraying disinfectants and sanitizers and were also taking temperature of each crew member. The guests were entering the hall only after sanitizing themselves and taking thermal tests. There are caterers in Noida who are still accepting event/party orders and serving people while maintaining all the safety measures and social distancing especially. Hygiene comes first to the people who serve humanity especially if they are serving food, otherwise it becomes completely pointless. If food is not cooked in a hygienic environment, infections can spread very easily. In today’s situation, maintaining proper sanitization and Hygiene is of paramount importance. Who wants to risk their lives? Exactly, no one. So stay safe and eat healthy.
