Why You Should Visit Brac Island

Brac Island is one of the most amazing Islands in Croatia. It is close to the split county mainland and home to the highest peak on the Adriatic coast. The distance between the Island and the mainland is about 12 kilometers. Upon arriving at the Island by ferry are some popular destinations such as the Supetar town which is the Islands capital, town Bol which is on the southern part of the Island. Town Bol is known for its famous Zlatni Rat beach which is one of the fascinating places to visit.
One of the reasons to visit Brac Island is because it’s a cheaper Island to visit and has an enriched fascinating history since it has been a place of inhabitancy since the Neolithic times. Also, the simplicity and hospitality of the local folks would be the most exciting experience for any visitor.

This is the highest summit in all of the Adriatic Islands. It is about 778 meters high. This is a very exciting destination especially during the summer when the temperatures are high for hiking. A visit to Vidova Gora is also reachable by a Brac taxi through the various routes found in the area. From the Vidova Gora summit, one will be able to enjoy a wonderful view of the Hvar Island, Adriatic sea and the Zlatni Rat beach.
Hermitage sites visit
These sites are found on the southern shores of Brac Island. The area was not inhabited but was a secluded place for priests to devote their lives to meditation, prayer, and fasting. Two popular hermitage sites for both tourists and locals are Pustinja Blanca and Zmajeva Spilja. Pustinja Blanca also known as Blanca hermitage is a complex monumental, raised on a steep hill and was home to Glagolitic order in Croatia. Zmajeva Spilja is at a cliff of about 300 meters and located above the village of Murvica.
Zlatni Rat Beach
This beach offers recreational and sports amenities for the fans of windsurfing. Windsurfers enjoy the best moment of their lifetime during windsurfing with their friends. Zlatni Rat Beach has windsurfing centers in the vicinity which offers equipment rental and windsurfing courses. Big Blue Sport at the beach which is located below the hotel Borak is the most incredible windsurfing center. The staff at the center offer affordable prices for windsurfing, often run special discounts and are super friendly.
Brac Island is also famous due to its stone which was used in the construction of the Budapest Parliament, Diocletian palace and the White House. Much of the Island is made of the Brac white stone and it’s one of the symbols on the Island. The stonemason school found in Pucisca is one of the schools in the globe which teaches about manual stone works.

Brac Island is known for its common grape varieties planted on the Island which include Plavac Mali and Posip. Visitors can enjoy together the wine tasting hours and learn about wine production processes and bottling.
